I read the Lord of The Rings 45 years ago, mostly while working night shift in an oil refinery. The billowing steam, flickering fires, mysterious shifting shadows, strange smells and burts of sound and steam from relief valves made « the darkest depths of Mordor » and the skulking Gollum very easy to imagine! 😳
I need to listen to this now. It's been sooo long since I read the book. Once in elementary and once after the first LOTR movie came out.
The pages go by fast!
What a cool idea to listen to The Hobbit at this point. Will put that in my que. Thanks!
Would love to hear your thoughts when you get through it!
Thanks for this, Ben!
You have inspired me to read The Hobbit.

Sounds like the best possible place to read those books! I read them in New Zealand, which was great for very different reasons.
